Verse 1
As the blackbird in the spring
beneath the willow tree,
Sat and piped I heard him sing,
and sing of Aura Lee.
Aura Lee, Aura Lee, maid of golden hair,
Sunshine came along with thee,
and swallows in the air.
Verse 2
On her cheek the rose was born,
'twas music when she spake
In her eyes the rays of morn with splendor break
Aura Lee, Aura Lee, maid of golden hair
Sunshine came along with thee,
and swallows in the air.
