Wir lagen vor Madagaskar
und hatten die Pest an Bord
in den Kesseln, da faulte das Wasser
und t'glich ging einer 'ber Bord.
Ahoi! Kameraden. Ahoi, ahoi.
Leb wohl kleines M'del, leb wohl, leb wohl.
Wenn das Schifferklavier an Bord ert'nt,
Ja da sind die Matrosen so still,
Weil ein jeder nach seiner Heimat sich
Die er gerne einmal wiedersehen will.
